I have been quiet lately, and this is because I have been productive. I have been spending a lot of time in my studio, drawing, writing, and expressing stories that have been wanting to emerge for a while.
I am particularly excited about the next Paracosmos release. It’s called The DEATH and REBIRTH of ABRAXAS NEPTUNE.
This story started its life as a concept album. Before long, it took the form of a comic book.
A few days ago I finished illustrating the comic book. At it’s core, it’s a fun story about someone who decides to follow his dreams.
Cliché? Maybe.
But I have thrown the angel of death and a couple of aliens into the mix, so I managed to present this age-old theme in an original way.
The DEATH and REBIRTH of ABRAXAS NEPTUNE is a story about a seemingly normal guy named Alan Knight. He is bored, in debt, and dissatisfied with his life. After some not-so-subtle prodding by a certain otherworldly being, he decides to follow his passion: making music. What follows is an extraordinary (and not completely without setbacks) rise to fame as he becomes the person he was always meant to be.
But something bigger is going on. It’s not all about him. It’s about his mission on earth.
There are other forces at play, which are alluded to in the story’s conclusion.
This simple tale lays the foundation for the next few stories in this series, by expanding on the universe that was introduced in The Bookstore // Season One (which incidentally is now available for FREE download so if you haven’t read it yet, get it here).
I mentioned that The DEATH and REBIRTH of ABRAXAS NEPTUNE started its life as a concept album. It still is, in its own way. I have written a collection of tracks that form a companion piece to this comic book. I am currently recording the soundtrack and planning a launch for this project, so stay tuned.
In the meantime, enjoy a little preview below.
